YOGA FROM THE AGE OF 14

I was 14 years old when my father first took me to a yoga class. It was there, at the Sananda Center in Vigo, where I met those who in the future would be my teachers and first guides in this practice and philosophy. That same year, 1994, I had the good fortune to spend a few days with my family at the Zuhaizpe Vital Health Center, a quiet place in the mountains of Navarra where, by following a hygienic diet or through controlled fasting, a deep emotional and personal growth work is carried out. A true School of Health where, still unconsciously because of my age, I began to get in touch with tools to lead a healthy life in contact with nature. It was an apprenticeship that remained latent until the age of 20, when I was studying Environmental Sciences at the University of Huelva. There I took a class that excited me; six years had passed since that first experience in Vigo and I felt that I had found a path that I wanted to continue and deepen.

I completed my studies in Seville and took classes with new teachers and methods until I began a professional project in Ourense that would last ten years, dedicated to environmental advocacy and education with the environmental NGO Amigos de la Tierra. In the meantime and in parallel to what was then my job, I continued with the practice of yoga and training through different courses and workshops.

It was upon my return to Vigo in 2010 when I really began my professional dedication to Yoga. I returned to the center where I had taken my first class fifteen years earlier, and under the tutelage of its director Mádhana (an internationally recognized reference in the field of Yoga and its philosophy) I began my training as a teacher. I acquired the diploma by the Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Teachers Sananda (A.I.P.YS.) in Hatha Yoga and I taught my first classes there, becoming part of the teaching staff of the Center.

30 YEARS LATER

For a few years I continued to combine my passion for practicing, training and teaching Yoga with the project at Friends of the Earth. But in 2014 I discovered Ashtanga Yoga, provoking in me a personal work that led me among other things to the decision to get fully involved with Yoga. Since 2015 I continue with the regular practice of Ashtanga, acquiring ongoing training through different workshops with international teachers; and teaching Hatha Yoga classes for a while in other places besides Sananda.

Now, thirty years after that first class, my life is fully involved with this ancient and living tradition, which helps us develop the health and coherence to live in a more conscious way. I invest my energy as a teacher in my project Fluindoyoga, where I try to motivate students to get started in this practice that gives me so much.

I am certified by the Yoga Alliance RYT 500H in Hatha Yoga. I have taken courses and practiced with different teachers of Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga in Spain and India. My classes are demanding and dynamic, in which I give a lot of importance to postural correction.

I also direct the training course for new Yoga teachers in Vigo and I teach with enthusiasm all the practical and technical part so that the new instructors can teach classes with safety and quality in teaching.

NO FEAR OF CHANGE

Yoga has accompanied me in all the important moments of my life. It has allowed me to experience a more intimate and connected experience with my baby when I was pregnant, and also during parenting; it has allowed me to accept body and emotional changes with confidence, security and positive thinking.

If Yoga is your passion, don’t be afraid to change! If you feel that you have burned a stage, move on to another, work on detachment and enjoy the beginning of a new path. At FluindoYoga we can accompany you in this beginning. 🙏
